Host Kevin Vance rebroadcasts his award winning program celebrating the life, work and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. You'll hear short excerpts from speeches he made over the years on the struggle for civil rights, mixed with songs from mass meetings, and music by artists such as Odetta, Phil Ochs, Sweet Honey In The Rock, Eric Bibb, Pete Seeger, and Stevie Wonder. Spark And Whisper is an indie-folk band, lead by Velvy Appleton and Anita Sandwina. Their home is in the North Bay. They describe their music as Modern Folk, Original Voices, and True Stories. Each of them have played acoustic music for 20 years, and as a duet for almost 10 years. They've just released their debut album also called "Spark And Whisper" on their own label. Spark and Whisper will be Kevin Vance's guests at 5pm this Saturday on A Patchwork Quilt. Also Kevin will play music of the week, including labor songs, and the blues Tampa Red.
