Sandy Miranda

Sandy Miranda has been hosting world, roots & folk shows in the San Francisco Bay Area for 24 years.  She started hosting music shows on KALW seven years ago, with a series of Hawaiian shows produced at KKCR community radio in Hanalei, Kauai.  She is particularly interested in presenting music that carries the cultural heritage from across American and across the world.   She has also hosted shows on KPFA, KZSU, KKUP, and for the CBC in Toronto and worldwide.

Sandy has been a voting member of the Grammys (National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences) for 14 years, and produced a multinational music website for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy.  Her documentary on the music and sacred sites of Sardinia was nominated for a National Federation of Community Broadcasters award. Sandy received a Master's Degree from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco for her 19-part series, "Women, Spirit, & Peace" in 2005.  For more about her work, visit
