Today's Local Music: Frances England

Today we are featuring a song by San Francisco artist Frances England. She never imagined anyone outside of her son’s pre-school would hear the songs she wrote for a fundraiser. But now, through the world wide-ness of the Web, her music is known as far away as Australia and Europe.

She’ll be at the Parkside branch of the San Francisco Public Library on Saturday October 6, as part of this year’s Tricycle Music Festival. Music starts at a kid-friendly time, 3 pm.

Today we're featuring the Sierra Ensemble, a trio of violin, horn and piano. They’ve titled their upcoming concert “From the Bosphorus to the Bay,” because they’ll be performing a world premiere by a Turkish composer, as well as the San Francisco premiere of another piece – and more.

You can hear them this Friday, October 5th, at The Old First Church  on Sacramento Street in San Francisco, starting at 8 pm.
