The acquittal in the Kate Steinle murder trial, explained

A San Francisco jury last week found Jose Ines Garcia Zarate not guilty of murder in the death of Kate Steinle.

Since then, President Donald Trump has renewed calls to build a wall on the border. Attorney General Jeff Sessions has sharpened his criticism of sanctuary cities.

Inside that courtroom, though, the jury was asked to ignore the fierce debate about immigration enforcement this case kicked off.
