Ralph Stanley, one of the last of the first-generation bluegrass musicians, passed away on Thursday night, so on this week's Bluegrass Signal, Peter Thompson will present a memorial tribute to this wellspring of American music.
The program is based on a few of the many live recordings Ralph made with brother Carter (1946-1966) as The Stanley Brothers, and as leader of his own band, (Dr.) Ralph Stanley & the Clinch Mountain Boys, for the past 50 years.
White doves will mourn in sorrow, the willows will hang their heads.
