15 percent tax proposed on medical cannabis // Pressreader  Majority of funds would go to the  California Bureau of Medical Marijuana Regulation and the state’s general fund. Cities and counties could add their own taxes.

Now “Amoeba is one of three finalists for [Berkeley’s] fifth medical marijuana dispensary license.” A decision is expected by the end of March.

Martinez considers regulations on cultivation // Martinez News-Gazette  City officials are urged “not to follow in the footsteps of other Contra Costa County cities by banning medical marijuana cultivation in the city.”

Roseanne Barr joins celebrity cannabis branding // Orange County Register  The comedian is investing in a Santa Ana dispensary to be called Roseanne’s Joint, which will “sell marijuana products bearing its name.”

A billion dollars in bud for Colorado // The Cannabist  “Licensed and regulated marijuana stores in Colorado sold $996,184,788 worth of recreational and medical cannabis in 2015, according to new data from the state Department of Revenue.

“’I think it’s ethical to round that up to a billion,” cannabis industry attorney Christian Sederberg said Tuesday upon first hearing the 2015 totals.’”

Native American Church condemns pot claims // Indian Country Today   “The Native American Church of South Dakota does not condone the use of Marijuana as a sacrament of the Native American Church,” an official statement says. Asreported here last week, police have been raiding facilities of the Oklevueha Native American Church (ONAC) since late last year. The two churches are not affiliated.
