Preserving Welfare for Needs Not Weed Act” passes House // The Hill        Restrictions would join those for liquor stores, strip clubs and casinos.

Delivery driver cleared // ASA      Charges against a cannabis delivery driver in San Diego were dropped this week following a statement by the Deputy City Attorney saying delivery of medicine to sick people is a defense in state court.

Colorado banking plan called "a game of chicken."// The Cannabist   "Neither side [banks or dispensaries] wants to commit too much without having a sense of how it will play out.”

Shortages, high prices, still plague Washington pot business // KLCC Radio    Hopes are high that the fall harvest will help; ten tons of marijuana are estimated to currently be in production.

Make dispensary permit process an auction // Marijuana Business Daily   That’s the suggestion of Bruce Rauner, Republican candidate for governor of Illinois.

U.S. teens continue to sober up // Washington Post      Does state legalization make it easier for teens to access marijuana?  It doesn’t seem to matter, because fewer are using it in any case.

Rotary and senior homes hear of cannabis health benefits from retired principal // Chicago Tribune       “If you had told me I’d be promoting cannabis someday,” says this Oakland grandmother, “I would have said you’ve been smoking too much.” [We’ve previously covered this topic. – Ed.]

“420 Games” rates 9 out of 10 for a first event //Jim McAlpine    The organizer of the “420 Games” relates by email that about 250 people participated in the initial event held last weekend at Golden Gate Park. Photos can be found here.  The games are designed to “advocate the responsible use of marijuana and to help de-stigmatize the millions of people who use it in a positive manner.”
