Help wanted: State seeks medical marijuana chief // Sacramento Bee  Is there a drug test involved?

Mendocino County works on local controls // Daily Journal   They’re reviewing current cultivation regulations with an eye towards retaining local control once the statewide medical marijuana rules go into effect.

Humboldt County reviews “seed to sell” regulations //  KAEF-TV   “The board voted unanimously to create an ad hoc committee to work on a plan for the commercial regulations of medical marijuana.”

Santa Barbara also works to keep local control // KEYT-TV  The city has until mid-January to submit a plan. Otherwise rules governing medical cannabis will be set by the state.

Vets one step closer to medical marijuana approval // Drug Policy.org  “The Senate [Tuesday] passed the FY2016 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs (MilCon-VA) Appropriations Bill, which includes language to allow Veterans Administration doctors to recommend medical marijuana to their patients in states where medical marijuana is legal.”

Internal possession” moves tribe to destroy crop // Alternet   "South Dakota law prohibits the internal and physical possession, distribution, and manufacture of marijuana by: (1) all non-Indian persons anywhere in South Dakota including within Indian country; (2) all persons, including tribal members, outside of Indian Country."

Opposition to Fisherman’s Wharf dispensary // NBC-TV  Why? Because it’s likely to “attract the wrong kind of people.”

Oakland’s medical dispensaries seen as trying to control the market // Buzzfeed     The eight existing dispensaries “hired a lobbyist in July and last month announced that they would be forming the Oakland Dispensary Council to advocate on their behalf, raising questions about the extent of the cannabis industry’s growing spending power and political influence.”

E. coli, other pathogens, found in pot tests // KESQ-TV  "There's some really scary stuff that can happen when you are curing, which is when you cut down the plant, you’re processing it, all kinds of contaminants can get in there.”
