Cellista finds her voice and artistic home in San Jose

Yellow Bubbles Photography
Multimedia musician Cellista

The multidisciplinary musician known as Cellista started playing the cello as a schoolkid in Colorado, and even studied cello performance in college. As an adult she took a break from her instrument while living abroad in France — but after returning to the United States, and moving to San Jose, Cellista made a passionate return to music.

She spoke with KALW’s Jackie Sojico about falling in love with her new city, and with her old love, the cello.

You can catch her latest work, Transfigurations, a stage poem, on November 17 and 18 at Little Boxes Theater in San Francisco.

"I think when you go into any city there's that outer shell that everyone sees — and then you have to dig a little deeper and you'll find a lot of secrets that are good secrets."
