Is America undergoing a sleep revolution?  Entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley are betting that sleep is the health craze of the moment, investing time and money to develop devices they claim will monitor and improve the quality of our rest.  

How important is sleep to our health, and will these new technologies really help us get a better night's sleep?  On June 26, Ethan Elkind and guests as discuss the current state of sleep on City Visions, here on local public radio KALW San Francisco.

Clete Kushida, M.D., Ph.D., neurologist and professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford; Medical Director of the Stanford Sleep Medicine Center and Director of the Stanford Center for Human Sleep Research.  Dr. Kushida, who has conducted basic and clinical sleep research since 1977, has founded and presided over numerous sleep associations.  

Nancy H. Rothstein, MBA, known as The Sleep Ambassador®  and Director of Circadian Corporate Sleep Programs.  Nancy consults and lectures on sleep science and sleep optimization strategies to Fortune 500 companies, the travel industry, universities, schools, and other organizations. Nancy serves on NIH Sleep Disorders Research Advisory Board and on the Steering Committee of MyApnea.org

Liz Rockett, MBA, MPH, director with Kaiser Permanente Ventures, where she invests in healthcare IT, digital health and technology-enabled services.  Prior to joining KP Ventures, Liz ran the health practice at Imprint Capital, advising foundations and endowments on healthcare investments that aligned with their mission interests.
