City College of San Francisco gets its accreditation back, part 4 in our Bayview-Hunter's Point redevelopment series, talking people down from jumping off the Golden Gate bridge, this week's Audiograph game answer, and local musician Todd Sickafoose
For 23 years, retired California Highway Patrol Sergeant Kevin Briggs patrolled the Golden Gate Bridge for suicide jumpers. He talked hundreds of people off the ledge and back onto the bridge and earned the nickname, “The Guardian of the Golden Gate.” His powers of persuasion were the doorway between life and death. Sometimes, unfortunately, they just weren’t enough.
Marie Harrison is very familiar with the health issues in Bayview Hunters Point.
"I've lived and raised children in Bayview for almost 50 something years, and honestly for as long as I can remember there have always been complaints. Because no one really understood the relationship between their illnesses and where they lived," Harrison says.
