"This large-format, 596-page, full-color gardening book has 2,000 images and retails for $50. It's written by iconic author and Sonoma resident Jorge Cervantes (aka George Van Patten) — a former cultivation editor for High Times magazine."

Night Market Showcases Under the Radar Food Entrepreneurs // Mission Local

"Some 200 foodies shuffled through the La Cocina Night Market on Saturday night at 18 Reasons tasting the signature dishes of four food entrepreneurs.

"The night market is a relatively new, last-Saturday-of-every-month event that brings together two of the Mission’s leading food non profits – 18 Reasons, a food education and empowerment non profit started by Bi-Rite, and La Cocina, an incubator for low-income food entrepreneurs."

Prominent SF black leader supports Mission housing moratorium// SF Examiner

"One prominent black leader in San Francisco expressed support Monday for the proposed moratorium on market-rate housing in the Mission, saying the displacement of Latinos is similar to what blacks experienced years ago.

"I would support it," the Rev. Amos Brown, president of the local NAACP branch, said of the Mission moratorium Monday during an interview at City Hall with The San Francisco Examiner."

San Francisco City Officials Invited To Ride Along In 22-Day Muni Challenge // CBS Local

"San Francisco city officials will be riding the bus for the next 22 days and tweeting about their experiences with the hashtag #OnBoardSF.

"The San Francisco Transit Riders Union has invited the mayor, supervisors and other city officials to board buses from June 1st through June 22nd toexperience what Muni riders throughout the city go through on a day-to-day basis.

Supervisor Jane Kim, who rode the bus to work instead of walking, used the hashtag #OnBoardSF while tweeting Monday about her frustration shared by many Muni riders who complain or have given up on the transit system altogether."

Assembly passes bill to end organ transplant black list for pot users // Sacramento Bee

"Medical cannabis patients could not be denied organ transplants solely based on their marijuana use under a bill the California Assembly passed on Thursday.

"Individual hospitals have leeway to set separate guidelines for who can receive transplants, and Assemblyman Marc Levine, D-San Rafael, said some discriminate against Californians who are legally using marijuana for medicinal purposes.

“Too often patients are denied a life-saving organ transplant solely because they are prescribed medical cannabis,” Levine said."
