Did being openly gay on national TV hurt SF 'X Factor' singer?

Marilyn Pittman's guest on Out in the Bay is San Francisco cabaret singer Jason Brock. Brock's singing was fabulous and he was openly gay on his recent nationally televised appearances on X Factor.
