On this edition of Your Call, we discuss Still I Rise, a new documentary short series that pays homage to Maya Angelou’s poem by the same name by celebrating people who persevere in spite of their struggles.
We’ll speak with Mimi Chakarova and Dionicia Ramos, who shares the experiences of her undocumented parents in the film The Alien. Her dad crossed the border searching for work. After 60 years of harvesting the land of others, he now tends to his own garden. Dionicia’s parents put all four of their kids through college.
