Green Apple Books celebrates 50 years in SF

Oct 30, 2017

San Francisco's iconic Green Apple Books grew from a 750-square-foot storefront on Clement Street in 1967, to a space of over 8,000 square feet today.

It was named national Bookstore of Year in 2014 by Publishers Weekly, and was one of the first businesses named to the San Francisco Legacy Business Registry. This year, Green Apple turns 50. Co-owner Pete Mulvihill joined KALW's Hana Baba in studio to talk about being relevant and vibrant in the age of Amazon.

"People discover books in our store the way they can't online. Amazon's great at search but terrible at browse."
