The hidden history of the San Francisco Armory building

Steven Short
The Armory Building, 14th & Mission, San Francisco

The National Guard Armory is a brooding brick “castle” at the corner of 14th and Mission in San Francisco.

It was built by the military, but it has had other uses over the years – it was a movie set and a boxing arena before it was abandoned altogether.

The Armory found new life when the fetish porn film company Kink.com took it over in 2006. And now Kink.com has additional plans for the massive space.

DUSTY: This particular room we're in is super heavily reinforced with double-thick reinforced steel doors, because this was the munitions storage room. In case anything went boom, it would be contained to this one room.
