A few weeks ago, Supervisor Katy Tang joined planners to discuss the city’s affordable housing bonus plan at the Ortega Branch Library in San Francisco’s Sunset District. An overflow crowd of about 200 people turned out for the event. Kearstin Dischinger, the city’s lead housing planner was one of the speakers.
KALW’s Ben Trefny sat down with her, in studio, to talk about how the plan could change San Francisco.

KEARSTIN DISCHINGER: This is a way for the city to not provide a subsidy, but get affordable housing, including for the middle income. The trade-off is we will have some buildings in each neighborhood that are higher heights than what people are used to seeing.
