KALW On-Air Folk Festival this Saturday!
On Saturday March 29th 3:00 to 8:00 pm, KALW's On-Air Folk Festival presents five hours of continuous live music by some of the Bay Area's finest musical talent. Here's the line-up:
3:00 pm Brass Farthing is an ensemble of stalwart lads that sings songs, raises good cheer, and otherwise makes merry in the company of friends both old and new. Their songs cover many periods and they perform historical, traditional, and contemporary compositions in traditional styles.
3:45 pm UnderCover Presents Paul Simon's Graceland - executive producer Lyz Luke and music director Robert Shelton come in to talk about UnderCover Presents' latest production involving 50-plus local musicians covering the songs of Graceland.
4:15 pm FullSet, direct from Ireland. This young, award-winning six-member band performs Irish folk and traditional music for the 21st century.
5:00 pm Rita Hosking—country, folk, and original songs
6:30 pm: Shepherd Canyon Band – bluegrass with Josh Jakus (fiddle), Ken Smith (mandolin), Jess Beebe (bass), Jerry Barush (banjo, guitar), and Bernie Bishop (guitar).
7:15 pm: Canyon Johnson – bluegrass with Eric Charles (mandolin), Amy Scher (fiddle), Patti Finney (guitar), Jeff Caton (guitar), Jim Duber (bass), and Bob Regent (banjo). Everybody sings!
