KALW On-Air Folk Festival This Saturday 3 to 8 pm

Five hours of live music coming your way on KALW 91.7, hosted by JoAnn Mar, Kevin Vance, and Peter Thompson  We'll be showcasing some of the Bay Area's finest local talent on Saturday October 25th from 3 to 8 pm.

Here's the line-up:

3:00 pm  Linsey Aitken & Ken Campbell:  This talented duo from Scotland performs original songs inspired by traditional, classical,  and contemporary music, where historically all three genres of music were interlinked in Scotland’s musical identity.

3:45 pm  Jeffrie Givens & Marty Nemko:  Yes, it's KALW's talk show host Marty Nemko displaying his talents as a pianist, accompanying vocalist Jeffrie Givens.  They recently co-wrote Jeffrie's one-woman show "Retard" that includes some of her favorite show tunes.

4:15 pm  True Life Trio & Gari Hegedus:  Members of True Life (Juliana Graffagna, Briget Boyle, Leslie Bonnett) have teamed up with multi-instrumentalist Gari Hegedus for Like Never and Like Always, a new performance piece that traces a life journey with Eastern European folk songs, poetry, movement and original music.  They'll perform selections from their new work.

5:00 pm  Quiles & Cloud:  Maria Quiles and Rory Cloud sing original songs with soft harmonies about the highs, lows, and in-between spaces, of happiness and sadness, with grace, warmth, and maturity.

5:45 pm  Legends of the Celtic Harp:  Lisa Lynne and Aryeh Frankfurter  take you on a dramatic musical journey deep into the myths, magic and fabled history of this most captivating instrument.

6:30 - 8:00 pm:  Live From Strawberry:  The On-Air Folk Festival switches to a remote location to present live Main Stage recordings of Bay Area bluegrassers at the recent Strawberry Music Festival - the Kathy Kallick Band and Steep Ravine, two great bands, representing the finest of established and emerging musicians.
