Kitka’s Wintersongs ~ Ragazzi Boys Chorus & Continuo ~ The Millionth Production of A Christmas Carol

Tomas Pacha
Women’s Vocal Ensemble Kitka…";s:

This week on Open Air, host David Latulippe talks with Shira Cion, Executive Artistic Director and one of the vocalists of  Women’s Vocal Ensemble Kitka, to discuss the group’s annual ‘Wintersongs’ tour, which starts on December 7 in Santa Cruz and runs through December 21, with concerts in San Rafael, Menlo Park, Oakland, San Francisco and Woodside.

This year’s ‘Wintersongs’ features seasonal music from a wide variety of Eastern European ethnic and spiritual traditions,  and also celebrates the issue of Kitka’s new holiday CD, ‘Evening Star’.

Also joining in the studio are Joyce Keil of Ragazzi Boys Chorus, and Collin Lee of Ragazzi Continuo (the adult a cappella choir composed of graduates of the Boys Chorus), to share details about upcoming holiday concerts by both Ragazzi ensembles: The Ragazzi Boys Chorus presents ‘Ubi Caritas: Where There is Love’  in Palo Alto (Dec 2), Burlingame (Dec 3) and San Francisco (Dec 10), while Ragazzi Continuo performs ‘Winter’s Warmth’ in Palo Alto (Dec 9), Redwood City (Dec 10) and San Francisco (Dec 17).

And, from the Pear Theatre in Mountain View, we meet with Artistic Director Betsy Kruse Craig, and playwright/director James Kopp, about the world premiere of ‘The Millionth Production of A Christmas Carol’, an original comedy involving a small black box theater in Northern California and its struggle to create art and still pay the bills.

‘The Millionth Production of A Christmas Carol’ opens December 1.

Open Air with host David Latulippe; heard live on Thursday, November 30 at 1pm. Listen now or anytime…
