City Visions: Celebrating 25 Years in San Francisco

On December 12, 2016, host Joseph Pace and guests celebrate City Visions' 25th anniversary and discuss the most defining trends and moments of San Francisco history over the past 25 years. What was happening when City Visions debuted in December 1991? Well, San Francisco was in the thick of the AIDS epidemic and effective therapies were years away, incumbent Mayor Art Agnos had just been defeated by former Police Chief Frank Jordan and the average rent for a two-bedroom apartment in San Francisco was a whopping $1000 a month. Trends over the past 25 years include rising costs of housing, increasing income inequality, progress toward marriage equality and physical improvements to San Francisco's waterfront, among other topics.

Guests:

Chris Carlsson, San Francisco historian, tour guide, photographer and writer

Tim Redmond, former editor of the SF Bay Guardian and editor of 48hills.org.

Rita Shimmin, Executive Director of Glide
