A proposed ballot could grant all California inmates the right to vote

Apr 19, 2018

A group called Initiate Justice is looking to make California one of three states where all convicted felons have the right to vote, even those serving behind bars.

KALW’s Hana Baba spoke with reporter Holly J. McDede to learn more about the ballot initiative the group is pushing forward.

"An estimated 6.1 million Americans can't vote because of felonies. A disproportionate share of those numbers are African American; one in 13 African Americans are excluded from voting in this country."
