Around San Francisco, residents and community members took a moment to remember their mayor.
The last place the mayor spent time, yesterday, was at a Safeway near his home in San Francisco’s Sunnyside District. Mayor Lee was shopping when, reports say, he clutched at his chest and fell. People in the market helped him up, and an ambulance came and took him to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital.
KALW's Lilia Vega went to the Safeway earlier today, where a makeshift memorial had been set up, to talk to residents. She also spoke withMUNI bus driver Daryl Williams, who stopped his vehicle at noon along with public transit operators around the city to take a moment of silence.
Those were voices recorded this morning in Mayor Lee’s Sunnyside neighborhood by KALW’s Lilia Vega.
