SF Music Day makes space to celebrate local music

Sep 20, 2017

When SF Music Day first started, it was called Chamber Music Day. While the name has changed over the years, the heart of the one-day festival has not.

For 10 years now, the nonprofit Intermusic has organized a daylong showcase of the breadth of music in the Bay Area, from jazz and classical to new fusions — all free of charge to audiences. Intermusic Executive Director Cory Combs, and classical jazz harpist Destiny Muhammad, who's a repeat performer in the festival, spoke with KALW’s Jen Chien about what you can expect from this year’s SF Music Day.

"What I'm excited about is that this festival is really designed with us in mind — local musicians."

The festival will be at the San Francisco War Memorial Building on Sunday, September 24.
