Mar 4, 2018

This week on KALW's showcase for the best stories from public radio podcasts and independent radio producers...

Atmospheres,” from the "Landfall" season of SFMOMA’s podcast Raw Material, December 2017.

Raw Material brings art concepts, histories, and personalities to your ears, wants to pull you down to Earth in its latest season. “Landfall” is a six-episode series that takes you on a road trip across the West Coast, on the hunt for land-based art with reporter Jessica Placzek and writer Madeline Gobbo. They’re searching for the hidden masterpieces that you’ve never seen, and the lesser-known histories of some of the most iconic examples of land art in California.

In the third episode, instead of going to a particular place to experience a specific artwork, they introduce us to work that is literally a part of the air we breathe.

Hear the entirety of "Landfall" at, or by subscribing to Raw Material wherever you listen to your podcasts (like Apple or Radio Public). And if you’d like to see photos of the artworks mentioned, follow them on Instagram at @rawmaterialpodcast

This week's episode featured music from: Black Moth Super RainbowSol Hoopii's Novelty Trio, and Grass Widow.
