The Spot: Strange Enough Things

This week on KALW's showcase for the best stories from public radio podcasts and independent radio producers...

The Captain” produced by Sofia Saldanha at the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies, December 2012.

There’s a woman who runs a hotel on the banks of Flagstaff Lake in Maine, who believes that there’s one particular spirit keeping her from moving on. Producer and student of the Salt Institute of Documentary Studies, Sofia Saldanha, slept over at the hotel in hopes to find this ghost.

Listen to decades of stories produced by students at the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies at saltstoryarchive.com.

The Seance,” produced by Bob Carlson for KCRW’s Unfictional, originally aired October 2010.

Party goers right before the seance began.

Unfictional, the podcast and radio show from KCRW, tells the story of one night when a group of skeptics came together to party, and soon hand more on their hands than they could believe.

Listen to more from Unfictional at KCRW.com, or subscribe to the podcast on iTunes or Stitcher.

This week's episode featured music from: Black Moth Super Rainbow, Tin Hat Trio, Boards of Canada, and R. Dean Taylor.
