Celebrate KALW's 75th anniversary at a very special night with Kronos Quartet and Bruce Cockburn, Thursday, August 4th at 8pm at the Nourse Theatre in San Francisco.
Online ticket sales for the concert have closed -- however, tickets will be available at the door tonight.
For more than 40 years, the Kronos Quartet—David Harrington (violin), John Sherba (violin), Hank Dutt (viola), and Sunny Yang (cello)—has pursued a singular artistic vision, combining a spirit of fearless exploration with a commitment to continually re-imagining the string quartet experience. One of the most celebrated and influential groups of our time, Kronos has collaborated with many of the world's most accomplished composers and performers, and commissioned more than 850 works and arrangements for string quartet.
Bruce Cockburn has enjoyed an illustrious career shaped by politics, spirituality, and musical diversity. His remarkable journey has seen him embrace folk, jazz, rock, and worldbeat styles while travelling to such far-flung places as Guatemala, Mali, Mozambique, and Nepal. "My job," he explains, "is to try and trap the spirit of things in the scratches of pen on paper and the pulling of notes out of metal."
