KALW has partnered with the award-winning San Quentin Prison Report, bringing you stories told behind prison walls by inmate reporters.
Today we're going to get to know one of those reporters: Greg Eskridge.
By age 11, Eskridge was living on the streets, trying to take care of himself. He got into drugs and alcohol, and by the time he was 21 years old, he was sentenced to 65 years in prison, plus two life sentences.
GREG ESKRIDGE: I could hear my family crying behind me and I could hear the family of the victim on the other side cheering. … It was a hard time. It was probably the worst moment in my life.
