San Francisco voters have a few more education-related ballot measures to consider. Others will help determine the fate of City College. The embattled school once served more students than any other community college in the country, but questions about how City College has been managed led to a massive drop in enrollment.

Now the school is trying to recover. KALW’s Ben Trefny spoke with San Francisco Chronicle higher ed reporter Nanette Asimov about what’s going on with City College of San Francisco.

NANETTE ASIMOV: "It is the longest running, slowest moving, nail-biter I think the state has ever seen. And we are entering the final act, and we will soon see the denouement of this long-running drama."

I joined KALW in 2004. As Executive News Editor and then News Director, I helped our news department win numerous regional and national awards for long- and short-form journalism. I've also helped create numerous training programs — for teenagers, incarcerated people, and early-career journalists — and have taught hundreds of audio producers. I served as interim Executive Director for nearly two years. My work is currently focused on creating original live events, programming, and building partnerships with like-minded organizations.
