If you are not looking for a good spot to view fireworks this weekend, we have some alternative ideas on what to do around the Bay Area.
Tomorrow is the first Friday of the month, which means there is a handful of local museums with free admission tomorrow, including the San Mateo History Museum in Redwood City. Among their current exhibits is Let’s Play Ball, a retrospective of local baseball teams from the early 1900’s until now. Highlights of the exhibit include one of Keith Hernandez's “Golden Gloves” and bats belonging to legends Ty Cobb, Joe DiMaggio, Willie Mays and Willie McCovey. Museum doors open at 10:00 a.m., and they start their daily docent-led tour at 2:00 p.m.
Every year, the North Bay communities of Stinson Beach and Bolinas go head-to-hear in a tug-o-war. Even if you do not live in either towns, you can still choose a side and participate, or at the very least, spectate. Festivitiesbegin this Saturday at 9:00 a.m. along the shores of Bolinas Lagoon. The Bolinas Parade will follow at about 11:00 a.m., followed by a barbecue with live music.
And for the 33rd season of Shakespeare in the Park, SF Shakeswill present Romeo and Juliet for the first time in over 20 years. On Sunday, they bring the show to the Amador Valley Community Park in Pleasanton. Admission to the performance is free, and the show starts at 7:30 p.m.
