Your Call: Should we regulate sugar like an addictive substance?

On today's Your Call we’ll talk about sugar – what it’s really doing to our bodies, and whether or not it should be regulated like tobacco or alcohol.  The World Health Organization has proposed cutting its recommended sugar intake from 10% to 5% of total daily calories. With obesity and diabetes on the rise, is it time to regulate the sugar industry? Or would a public health awareness campaign suffice?  Join the conversation on the next Your Call with Holly Kernan and you.

Guests:

Dr. Robert Lustig, professor of pediatrics in the Division of Endocrinology at UCSF, and Director of the Weight Assessment for Teen and Child Health (WATCH) Program at UCSF

Keith-Thomas Ayoob, associate professor of Clinical, Department of Pediatrics (Child Development) at Albert Einstein College of Medicine
