On the October 1st edition of Your Call, film director Stanley Nelson joins us to talk about his new documentary, The Black Panthers, Vanguard of the Revolution. In 1966, Huey Newton and Bobby Seale founded the Black Panther Party. One of the party's earliest activities involved "policing the police." They would follow the police around, carrying loaded weapons, and observe police stops to make sure no brutality occurred. Nearly 50 years later, the issues the party championed remain relevant today. What has and hasn’t changed? What can we learn from the legacies of the Black Panther Party?
