Middle Eastern theater company celebrates International Women's Day with live performance

An arts organization called Golden Thread Theatre Company has for years been enlightening, entertaining, and engaging the San Francisco public through live theater. Their purpose is to bring Middle Eastern literature, folklore and current events center stage. Plays tackle issues as serious as terrorism and the Patriot Act, and as light as folk tales featuring animals, and wise fools.

New art installation lights up Bay Bridge's Western span

San Francisco is globally famous for being home to the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, but tonight it’s the Bay Bridge that’s making international headlines.

A new installation called “The Bay Lights” launches with 25,000 LEDs lighting up all the cables across the Western span of the Bridge, transforming it into an illuminated sculpture inspired by the surrounding environment.

Sculptor Leo Villareal is the project’s light artist, but Ben Davis is the man who came up with the idea for the installation.

Today's Local Music: Hot Einstein

Today we're featuring the Bay Area band Hot Einstein. They claim to be old and new, at the same time. That’s partly because some band members have known each other a long time, while others are new. You can ask who’s who if you show up at Disco Volante in Oakland on Saturday, March 23. Hot Einstein plays there the third Saturday of each month. Music starts at 9pm.
