San Francisco is known as a Mecca for conscious foodies – with organic farmers markets, gourmet food trucks, and six Whole Foods supermarkets within the seven-by-seven square-mile city limits. But this abundance doesn’t reach everyone. In a lot of low-income areas, it can be difficult to find fresh and healthy food.

Today’s Local Music: Ken Ueno

Today we're featuring Ken Ueno, a composer and vocalist, currently on the faculty at UC Berkeley. He specializes in what is known as “extended techniques,” such as overtones and Tuvan throat-singing. Next Tuesday, April 16th, he joins two other Bay Area musicians who use “extended techniques” as part of the “SF Sound Salon Series.” This takes place at the Center for New Music on Taylor Street in San Francisco. And please note: the performance begins at 7:49pm.
