Anti-Islam ads return to Muni

Many San Franciscans were shocked by anti-Islam advertisements that appeared on ten Muni buses Monday. The ads show inflammatory quotes by Islamic fundamentalists accompanied by a picture of the speaker, an anonymous terrorist, and in one case, a victim. One shows a picture of Osama Bin Laden next to the quote: “The first thing that we are calling you is to Islam,” alongside an image of the burning World Trade Center.

Today we're featuring power-rocker Jay Trainer of San Francisco. He says he tries to “bring back a sense of honesty to rock ‘n’ roll” in his recordings -- but he’s better known for his uninhibited, free-form live shows.

You can experience this yourself on Friday March 15, when Trainer joins the band Felsen, and others, at the Brick & Mortar Music Hall in San Francisco. Music begins at 8pm.

Access to legal counsel proves challenging for immigrants

You would never notice it if you were walking by, because there are no signs, but San Francisco's immigration court is on the eighth and ninth floors of a nondescript office building here on Montgomery Street in the city's financial district. Immigrants can get a notice to appear here if they are facing deportation or applying for asylum. The people outside are here without lawyers. When I asked a man if he had a lawyer, he told me he wasn't sure if they'd let him see a judge or not.
