In recent years, all levels of California’s public education system have been suffering from continuing budget cuts. City College of San Francisco, California’s largest community college has not been immune to these troubles. But right now it's facing an even bigger challenge, as the school fights to maintain its accreditation.  KALW Education reporter Jen Chien spoke with Ben Trefny about the situation.

Fishing for the truth on seafood prices

99 Ranch’s seafood counter is enormous – and it needs to be: the store serves seafood eaters of many nationalities and income levels all over the Bay Area. The selection is huge: grouper from Peru, fish from Vietnam, China, Taiwan, and India.

Carlos Montelibano heads the fish department at the 99 Ranch in Mountain View where the prices are low.

Dianne Feinstein's Bad Oysters

Dianne Feinstein and other influential backers of a Point Reyes oyster farm have at times justified their support for it by contending that it's an environmentally friendly business. Feinstein and others have made this assertion in their attempt to convince the federal government to extend the oyster farm's lease at Point Reyes National Seashore, a move that would block the creation of the first marine wilderness on the West Coast.

The East Bay four-piece band, Bells blends dreamy harmonies and a wide range of percussion to create their own unique sound.  You can hear them for yourself tomorrow night, August 28th at Amnesia in San Francisco, where the motto is: "Be Nice or Leave – This is a Grown Folks Establishment." Music starts at 8:00PM.
