Today's Local Music: Marc and the Casuals

The band you’re hearing now is called Marc and The Casuals. How casual are they? So casual that they don’t have a website – and this song was recorded at the San Francisco Airport.

Marc and The Casuals head up an evening of deep soul and dance music on Saturday, April 5th. It's called “Soul Kaleidoscope.” This will be happening at The Chapel on Valencia Street in San Francisco, starting about 8:00pm.

The San Francisco Chronicle has been reporting widely on the FBI’s investigation into Senator Leland Yee and 25 others who have been indicted in the past few days. The charges range from firearms trafficking to promising political favors.

Oakland's first gang-unit member recalls a dangerous Chinatown

In the 1980s, newspapers were regularly reporting on growing Asian gang problems in Oakland and in 1981 the Oakland police department created a special unit to address the issue.

Once the unit was formed the focus of the department was to develop trust between law enforcement and the Chinatown community.
