Out in the Bay

Thursdays 7pm
produced and hosted by Eric Jansen & Marilyn Pittman

Out in the Bay - Gay Radio from San Francisco

Queer histories, herstories, personalities and issues are explored with humor, insight, and sensitivity each week on Out in the Bay.  We've been called “the gay Fresh Air” and even "the gay Tavis Smiley." We’ve interviewed such celebrities as film directors Ang Lee and John Waters, comedians Margaret Cho and Marga Gomez, singers Leslie Gore and Michael Feinstein,  actors, authors and more.  We’ve also featured historians, scholars, and activists -- including Phyllis Lyon and the late Del Martin -- with compelling stories about the reality of LGBT life.

But by being their authentic selves at work, many saw their careers – and companies – blossom.

Karinda Dobbins: Black, Gay, Funny, and a Single Mother!

Comic Karinda Dobbins

Karinda Dobbins is an up and coming comedian who happens to carry too many labels:  black, gay, single mother.  But she's still one of a kind. Host (and one of the first 'out' comics) Marilyn Pittman talks with Karinda about her life in Oakland, her daughter, her stand-up act, and what it was like opening for W. Kamau Bell of FX's 'Totally Biased"  last week at Stagewerx on Valencia Street.

Airs Thursday 4-4-13 at 7pm
