KALW is a media sponsor for the Berkeley Symphony, which presents its final concert of the 2013-14 season on Thursday, May 1st at 8pm in Zellerbach Hall on the UC Berkeley campus.  Music Director Joana Carneiro will lead the orchestra for Beethoven's Fifth Symphony, the Bay Area Premiere of Esa-Pekka Salonen's "Nyx,"  and Kaija Saariaho's "Adriana Songs," with soprano soloist Laura Krumm.  More information at  KALW will broadcast the orchestra's entire 2013-14 season of concerts beginning Monday May 5 at 9pm, continuing through

Broadcast of the opening concert of the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra from October of this year.  Music director Joana Carneiro led the ensemble in Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony, Charles Ives’ “The Unanswered Question”, and the World Premiere of Paul Dresher’s “Concerto for Quadrachord”, played by the composer (pictured) on an instrument he invented.  David Latulippe hosts the broadcast, with special interview features.   Sunday 12/2 at 4pm; Monday 12/3 at 9pm.
