Courtesty of Voci Women's Vocal Ensemble

Today’s local music is by the Voci Women’s Vocal Ensemble. Formed in 1991, this group specializes in “music by women and for women.”

You can hear the Voci Women’s Vocal Ensemble on Saturday, March 19th at the Chabot Space & Science Center, at 8pm. It’s part of the Center’s “After Dark” series.

These voices belong to members of La Peña Community Chorus. They have prepared an evening of Peruvian music, Friday at La Peña Cultural Center in Berkeley. Show starts at 8:30pm.

Alyssa Kapnik

Twice a year the San Francisco Symphony hosts workshops called “Sing Out Davies”, as part of the symphony's Community of Music Makers program. For one evening, singers from around the Bay Area come together to make music as one.  KALW's Alyssa Kapnik stood among them for a recent workshop and brought back their impressions of what it's like to be an ordinary person in such an extraordinary experience.
