Kitka brings the music of Eastern Europe to the Bay

Thomas Pacha

Kitka is a women's singing ensemble based in Oakland. For 35 years, the group has been singing songs drawn from Eastern European vocal traditions. February 27th, 2014 by Sophie Varon Featured on KQED I'm 18 now and I've gotten used to the eye rolling when I mention my love for Justin Bieber, but what no one understands is that being a true fan is not only about obsessing over Justin's looks or his music.

Bluegrass & Red Wine

Red Wine in concert

Europe's premier bluegrass band, Red Wine, is coming to the Bay Area from their home in Genoa, Italy.  Martino Coppo and Silvio Ferretti recently celebrated the band's 30th anniversary by adding a couple of 20-somethings to the group, and Red Wine sounds better than ever.

You'll hear music from six Red Wine releases, including their latest (a world-wide radio debut!), to get you ready for concerts in Mountain View, Berkeley, and Winters.

(Listen to the show anytime this week via KALW's Local Music Player.)
