Ya Elah, the women's vocal ensemble, returns to KALW with a new line-up of singers and musicians.   Their spiritual songs combine the rhythms and melodies of Balkan and Middle Eastern music with sacred and liturgical texts.  Our other guests include two great acoustic guitarists--Steve Baughman and Nina Gerber (who has accompanied the late Kate Wolf, as well as Dave Alvin, Nanci Griffith, and Peter Rowan).

"Folk Music & Beyond" welcomes members of the Shasta String Celebration, an all-star line-up of string wizards who will be coming to the Bay Area this weekend. National fiddle champs Tristan and Tashina Claridge will be leading the pack and they'll be our guests, along with a few of their other fiddling friends. Should be an interesting and eclectic program this Saturday 7/20 3 pm. Hope you can join us!

The great Irish fiddler Martin Hayes and guitarist Dennis Cahill return to Folk Music & Beyond for a live performance this Saturday February 25th at 3 pm.  Hayes ranks among the most innovative and distinguished fiddlers playing traditional music today.
