Poet Dean Rader: Sights & Sounds

Sep 28, 2017

Sights & Sounds is your weekly guide to the Bay Area arts scene. Poet and professor Dean Rader, who will be reading at Tell No One at this year's LitCrawl San Francisco, told KALW’s Jen Chien about three amazing arts events happening around the Bay this week.

The Hear Here mobile story tunnel is coming to Hear Here Live this Saturday at 5pm at Public Works in the Mission. The story tunnel features the photos of people who have contributed their story to the Hear Here project, along with a special link to their audio stories. Just a simple swipe of a smartphone will let you listen on the spot to the diverse and touching stories Hear Here has collected and produced so far. Think of it like an art gallery for sound!

A pinata-maker in the Excelsior District remembers his past life as a revolutionary; a peasant’s daughter journeys from a rural town in China to pursue the American dream in the Bay Area – these are just two of the local stories that will come to life at KALW’s Hear Here: A Night of Storytelling event on Saturday, October 13th at Public Works in San Francisco.
