Today’s Local Music: Eggplant Casino

That music you’re hearing? It’s by The Eggplant Casino. No, that’s not where they’re playing, that’s their name. They’re playing at The Red Devil Lounge in San Francisco, this Thursday, opening for Chum, the only Phish tribute band we know of. Doors open at 8pm.

Today's Local Music: Brendan Getzell

Brendan Getzell describes his sound as “Grey’s Anatomy” music for “House” people. If you don’t understand those TV show references, try this: he specializes in epic power-rock.

If you’d like to hear this brand of music in an intimate setting, Getzell will be performing with Peter Chung on Saturday (01.12) at The Bazaar Café in San Francisco, starting about 7pm.

ticketfly.com

Does this sound like anyone you’ve heard before? Curt Yagi is often compared to others, but no less an authority. Rock journalist Ben Fong-Torres says he sounds like… Curt Yagi. And that’s just fine.

Curt Yagi and The People Standing Behind Me will be sounding like themselves on Wednesday (01.09) at the Brick & Mortar Music Hall in San Francisco.

Music starts at 8pm.

Today's Local Music: Field Trips

There’s not much we can tell you about the band called Field Trips, other than that they're an Oakland band. Field Trips claim to be ”running free and sharing their unhinged grooves” throughout the Bay Area. If this sounds appealing, you’ll want to show up at the New Parish in Oakland tomorrow night (January 03), where they’ll be playing. Doors open at 8pm, and music starts about 9pm.
