Today’s Local Music: Bhi Bhiman

Bhi Bhiman

The heart-felt singing we are featuring today belongs to Bhi Bhiman, who has received stellar reviews from The New York Times, Time Magazine, and NPR.  But those are just journalists. More important is what YOU think about him. You can form your own opinion of him when Bhi Bhiman is joined on Saturday, May 18 by two more Crosscurrents favorites, Meklit Hadero & Quinn DeVeaux. They’re all performing at St. Cyprian’s Church in San Francisco, as part of the SF Live Arts series. Music begins at 8pm.

Today’s Local Music: Picture Atlantic

If Picture Atlantic, the band you’re hearing now, were a wine, you might detect “notes of Coldplay.” That band was a big influence on Picture Atlantic’s founder, and their sound carries over to this band. They’re playing Thursday, May 9, at Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco as part of PopScene Club Night. Music starts about 9:30pm.

Local Music: Major Powers and the Lo-Fi Symphony

Does this music remind you of Queen? That’s not by accident. But Major Powers and the Lo-Fi Symphony isn’t a tribute band; they’re the inventors of what they call Adventure Rock. It may surprise you that all of this sound comes from a trio, and the trio is from Crockett, California.
