His memoir, "Sex, Drugs, and Disco" chronicles the story of gay men flooding into the Castro from all over the country to find more freedom. A time of cheap drinks, cheap sex, lots of drugs, and penicillin trucks.  Another chapter in the history of gay San Francisco as Pride month begins.  Marilyn hosts. His 2014 memoir "For My Brothers" has one hair-raising story of sex and drugs and rock and roll after another. The wild and crazy times of gay male life included Sylvester, Divine, The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. Wilson grew up in the 1950s with a suicidal mother. She learned in adulthood that her mother had been a closeted lesbian given psychiatric treatments - including electroshock - to “cure” her. Mother and daughter developed a deep bond when both came out as lesbians in the women’s and gay liberation movements of the late 1960s and ’70s. On a late Saturday afternoon, she left the hotel where she was staying with her family and went out for a walk. While crossing over a bridge, a man grabbed her and pulled her down the grass embankment. A warning to listeners, this story involves some disturbing and graphic content.
