San Francisco wasn’t the first city to celebrate LGBTQ pride every June, but its Pride parade is world-renowned. One of the annual delights of that parade is the San Francisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band.

This week on Open Air, host David Latulippe talks with Bay Area singer/songwriter Michelle Schmitt, about her annual benefit concert for Meals on Wheels at SF Jazz; Meals’ Communications Manager and Chief Storyteller Vivien Kim Thorp also joins us; Also, Doug Litwin of the San Francisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band shares information about the wackiest Nutcracker on earth: the 2013 Dance-Along Nutcracker, together with actor/dancer Kelly Collins; and we have David Parr, Artistic Director of the California Revels, together with actor Robert Sicular, who plays John Manners, the 9th Earl of Rutland in The Christmas Revels: The Spirits of Haddon Hall, at the Scottish Rite Theater in Oakland. Open Air, originally broadcast on December 12, 2013 at 1pm. Listen Now or anytime.
