The Stud is a queer bar in San Francisco with a long and storied history. It was founded in 1966, the same year as the historic Compton’s Cafeteria Riot in the Tenderloin, three years before the Stonewall uprising in New York. It survived the AIDS crisis, the dot com boom, and bust and boom again — all the while building a reputation as a quirky, welcoming place for all visitors.

With the popularity of drag on the rise, audiences around the country looking for entertainment can turn to Broadway's production of "Priscilla: Queen of the Desert" and televisions shows like "RuPaul's Drag Race." But here in San Francisco, drag shows happen most nights of the week. If you head out often enough, chances are you will encounter San Francisco drag icon Glamamore.

Recently, KALW's Daniel Moore found Glamamore before a performance, and she told him just who Glamamore is.
