“Bay Area drivers, the era of highway express lanes is dawning.

“Starting this month, a 14-mile stretch of carpool lanes that will double as toll lanes -- allowing solo drivers to use them for a price -- will open on Interstate 580 from Dublin to Livermore.

Oakland City Council considering easing rules to overcome homeless shelter crisis // Oakland Tribune

'There are so many homeless people living on Oakland's streets that city officials are considering a "shelter crisis" ordinance to ease restrictions on housing for the homeless.'

In exchange for a tax deal, Twitter recently debuted NeighborNest, a community learning center across the street from its Civic Center headquarters. Monday on our program, host David Onek explores Twitter's plan for the center, and whether the services it offers -- like coding classes and daycare -- can meet the needs of residents of the nearby Tenderloin.
