California makes international headlines for leading the way on global climate solutions. At the climate conference in Bonn, Germany, Governor Jerry Brown championed California’s role in transitioning to renewable energy, but activists called him out for continuing to promote oil and gas extraction in the state. How fast are we moving towards true sustainability?

Two California counties and one city did something unprecedented last week: San Mateo County, Marin County, and Imperial Beach down in San Diego are suing 37 different oil and gas companies for the projected effects and costs of sea level rise along the coast.

California prisons are equipping themselves with new technology that can block inmates from using smuggled cell phones. Prison officials want to crack down on illegal phone usage within prison walls because inmates may be using them to conduct criminal transactions.
